If your MySpace password is phished and subsequently changed, you won't be able to log into your MySpace account any more. This has happened to lots of people. Many of these people give up and create a new MySpace page, then try to find all of their old MySpace friends. Thanks to the MySpace software developers, this is no longer necessary. MySpace has created a new password retrieval page, at URL: http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.retrievepassword. If your password has been stolen from you and changed, go to this page and enter the email address you use for logging into MySpace. Your current password will be sent to your email account. Immediately after receiving the password message from MySpace, you should:

• log into your MySpace account using the current password
• go to your Account Settings
• select "Change Password"
• enter a new password that is very different from the password that was stolen

Whats if your password was stolen and you know longer have access to that account for them to send you the password?

sher: the only things I can think of are:

1) try using the password page again;
2) send an email to customercare@myspace.com from the email account you use for logging into MySpace

I was “phished” last night, and I was able to get to the new password retrieval page, and change my password, and log back in. My question, besides Myspace being affected at the time, are any other parts of my PC not secure now? Also, should I change my email address? Please help thanks.

My myspace password was phished and my email address had a plus symbol in it, and it seemed like the email thingy that resets your passwords errors out when there is a + character in it. Myspace support was no help either.

myspace password and account theft is getting to be a real problem. You are probably best contacting AOL customer service as you will get nowhere with myspace and then you can retrieve your myspace password from there.

You may telephone AOL and request a password reset if you are the master account holder. Not sure though if they will reset password when you have a FREE AOL account.

Why does the password retrieval page not work? I forgot my password and it says it has been sent to my email address when I enter it but nothing! NOTHING! MySpace – get your act together… I mean seriously, it can’t be THAT hard to make one simple thing like that work??!!

Unfortunately, it looks like the password retrieval page often doesn’t work. And, writing to customercare@myspace.com gets most people nowhere either.

This means that, if you lose your MySpace password, you may have no choice but to open a new MySpace account. That seems to be the unfortunate truth at this point.

Umm lets see, so i made a myspace thingy and i dont want it no more, it wont lemme cancel because when i requested the email confirmation thingy i checked if i put the email in correctly and i did. so i just took all my info off the myspace like ALL of it and changed it to jibberish. is that safe/ok?

Unfortunately, Myspace allows you to change your email on your account. My hacker felt the need to not only change my password, but also my email.

My problem is when I go to the page to change my password, the verification box says to type in the letters in the image but the image doesn’t show up, I have tried it on 3 different computers. My page has beed locked, blocked because it was phished and they tell me to change the password but I can’t type in the verification letters.

Tara, Donna, heather: This apparently was a MySpace bug that affected millions of MySpace users! MySpace apparently doesn’t do much testing before they make changes to their system live.

My daughter’s myspace was hacked and some horrible stuff put on it. I have tried contacting Myspace to no avail. She has requested a new password many times, but none have been sent. More then likely the hacker changed the email too. SO now how do I remove this disgusting page, with the inappropriate comments? Myspace needs to be more responsible in regards to helping their users resolve their problems!! Please, some ideas.

Teri: MySpace is not known for being responsive when a password is lost. However, if you report a page that has been taken over, they might notice that and delete the page.

Probably the best thing to do is to have your daughter start a new MySpace account, and ask MySpace to remove the old account that was taken over.

what if your screen name is still the same on myspace but just your password was stolen and you normally dont use the account,,, and once you hit in forgot pass word it sends it to the email you dont use to get online cause you forgot that password

I made a few myspaces about 3 years ago that I do not want anymore.
I have no idea what the e-mail adresses are, nor the passwords.
I’ve been trying to get a hold of Tom and Myspace crew for awhile,
nothing seems to be working.
If someone could please help me delete these, or give me some advice on deleting them, please do so, I’m like…desperate.

As many other myspace’s users my younger brother forgot his password. As we know he may retrieve his password from an email sent to his account, however that email account is not longer in service. That way, he cannot retrieve his password and he complained of losing more than 300 friends if he create a new account.

SAME THING! I changed my password manually while logged in because in the past someone has caused me problems with my computers. This was many years ago. Person seemed okay, so I showed said person my own myspace acct. After returning home I changed it (just to be on the safe side) and it took (everyone remember it asks you twice) to enter the change. All was fine. I went to log in a day or so later and NOPE the password I entered will Not work. I’ve tried the retrieval program for weeks, sent in well over 10+ requests and I NEVER ever changed my email login. I’m stuck. My account is still there, I get messages to my email account about new posts etc, all seems okay but my password will not work. I did try this, setting the Retrieval program to 3 different computers. NADA...the thing just does not work. Friends wondering where I am. Why I don’t reply, etc. I feel for all of you. This looks hopeless… I did the photo salute thing aswell… just automated replies. This Sucks
