The email address you enter when you sign up is used as your login name. We recommend not using your primary email address, for example, a work address, or a school email address. Instead, get an email account you could easily part with in the future, for example, a Yahoo! or Hotmail account.
When we were writing MySpace Safety: 51 Tips for Teens and Parents a parent told us about a group of students whose email addresses were posted in the newspaper so people could contact their student organization. Since they had used the same emails as their MySpace login names, the emails published in the newspaper made it possible for anyone to find their MySpace pages using the MySpace "Find a Friend" search.
If you are using an important email address as your MySpace login, we recommend that you get a Yahoo! or other web email account, then go to the MySpace Account Settings page and switch to that email address.

i need 2 get on myspace
I have attempted to change it via myspace, but it sends the change of email address to the email address that is no longer in use, therefore I can not change it.
They have a place on myspace where you update your email account and I submitted the change several times and it still is not updated. This has been about 3 months attempting to change my email address (used to log in) to a current active email without success.
I even messaged TOM about it and of course to response.
Some one has to do something about this it is a shame to have to cancel an account just because they dont have a proper email address change request proceedure.. most everyone else has one in place except the most popular community based internet meeting place.. go figure…

I signed up for myspace a year or more ago. I have since moved and my email address is no longer valid.
