MySpace Works on Tracker for Parents of Teens
The web site Mashable.com reports that MySpace is working on a new tracker that will enable parents to monitor what their teens are doing on MySpace. The article, titled “MySpace Tracker Tracks Teens”, describes the upcoming software, named Zephyr, as follows:
Zephyr allows parents to track the name, age and location their children have entered on MySpace, although it doesn’t let them view their child’s e-mail or view his or her profile page. Once the software is downloaded, it grabs this information for any user that logs on from that machine and saves it as a password protected file on the hard disk. It then notifies parents whenever the name, age or location on that profile is changed, even if it’s changed from another computer. It continues to work if the profile is private.
I’ll continue to watch for news about Zephyr and I’ll give it a test run when it becomes available.

hmmm interesting that Xanga and Facebook turned it down over privacy issues. i guess they will soon find a way round it they normally do….lol

I’ve not had any use personally for this type of program ( my kids are all grown up ) but I think every parent should take steps to make sure their child is protected at all times.
The internet has become an everyday place for kids, especially places like Myspace and other social networks.
Being able to keep track of your childs surfing habits is a must.
Zephyr sounds like a good peice of software for concerned parents.
Lets hope it works out.

I am frightened that my 14 yr old daughter is on my space and that I can’t monitor her incoming and outgoing. Recently, she left it open to her page and I was NOT happy when I saw gangsta blood baby as a name. What kind of people will she draw? It certainly can NOT be good.Teens today are NOT like the teens of yesterday. They are more open about sex,drugs and PILLS etc. It scares the hell out of me. What’s a parent to do? Can Tom crack down on screen names that are sick and the porn on this site. I saw it with my own eyes and have only been a computer user for a month.Parents need to be smarter than their children and need to learn more about computers in order to keep up these days. I never knew thaat this kind of stuff was available to our children, so easily accessable. God help us all.
